State forest health programs

While some states may offer only statewide reports, many separately report outbreaks of urban forest pests and disease; others are likely to join them.

Alabama: The Alabama Forestry Commission monitors forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease conditions.

Arizona: The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management monitors and reports on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

Arkansas: The Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Forestry Division tracks and reports on forest health, including pest and disease outbreaks.

California: The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) monitors and reports on forest health, including pest and disease outbreaks.

Colorado: The Colorado State Forest Service tracks forest health and provides data on pest and disease outbreaks.

Connecticut: The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) monitors forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease conditions.

Delaware: The Delaware Forest Service tracks and reports on forest health, including pest and disease outbreaks.

Florida: The Florida Forest Service monitors forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease outbreaks.

Georgia: The Georgia Forestry Commission monitors forest health and provides data on pest and disease conditions.

Illinois: The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) monitors forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease conditions.

Indiana: The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) tracks and reports on forest health, including pest and disease outbreaks.

Iowa: The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) monitors forest health and provides data on pest and disease conditions.

Kentucky: The Kentucky Division of Forestry monitors forest health and provides data on pest and disease conditions.

Louisiana: The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry tracks forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease outbreaks.

Maine: The Maine Forest Service tracks forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease outbreaks.

Maryland: The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) monitors and reports on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

Massachusetts: The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) tracks and reports on forest health, including pest and disease outbreaks.

Michigan: The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) tracks and reports on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

Minnesota: The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) monitors forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease conditions.

Mississippi: The Mississippi Forestry Commission monitors and reports on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

Missouri: The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) monitors forest health and provides data on pest and disease conditions.

Montana: The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation monitors forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease conditions.

Nevada: The Forest Health Program aids landowners in the form of education and information on forest insects and diseases and ways of managing them.

New Hampshire: The New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands tracks forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease outbreaks.

New Jersey: The New Jersey Forest Service monitors and reports on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

New York: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) tracks forest health and publishes reports on pests and diseases affecting the state’s forests.

North Carolina: The North Carolina Forest Service tracks forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease outbreaks.

North Dakota: Source of surveys and technical assistance to arborists and city foresters.

Ohio: The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) monitors forest health and provides data on pest and disease conditions.

Oklahoma: Covers both rural and urban forestry with surveys and technical assistance.

Oregon: The Oregon Department of Forestry monitors forest health and provides reports on pest and disease conditions.

Pennsylvania: The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) tracks forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease outbreaks.

Rhode Island: The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) tracks and reports on forest health, including pest and disease outbreaks.

South Carolina: The South Carolina Forestry Commission monitors and reports on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

South Dakota: Part of the Department of Agriculture and natural resources.

Tennessee: Mobilizes state resources to help landowners and municipal arborists.

Texas: The Texas A&M Forest Service conducts surveys and publishes data on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

Utah: Covers rural and urban forestry.

Vermont: The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation monitors forest health and provides data on pest and disease conditions.

Virginia: The Virginia Department of Forestry monitors and reports on forest health, including pest and disease conditions.

Washington: The Washington State Department of Natural Resources tracks and publishes data on forest pests and diseases.

West Virginia: The West Virginia Division of Forestry tracks forest health and publishes reports on pest and disease outbreaks.

Washington, DC: Strong focus on citizen engagement.

Wisconsin: The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) tracks and reports on forest health, including pest and disease outbreaks.

Wyoming: Manages aerial surveys and provides site-specific advice to landowners and municipalities.
